Designed to introduce tamariki to the traditional art of felting, this hands-on kit transforms soft, fluffy wool into a beautiful collection of colourful Matariki stars. Using both needle felting and wet felting techniques, children will shape, rub, roll, and create keepsake decorations to display, gift, or treasure as part of your whanau's Matariki celebrations.

The included step-by-step instruction guide is designed for complete beginners. It also includes a wet felting only method, making it easy for families who would prefer to create their stars without using felting needles.

Each kit makes:

• A collection of 9 colourful felt Matariki stars, each approximately 9 cm in size.

• NZ wool roving in the 9 Matariki star colours
• Star-shaped cookie cutter
• 2 felting needles
• Foam felting pad
• Selection of glitters
• Bubble wrap
• Step-by-step instruction guide

You'll also need:

• Warm water
• Dish soap
• A small bowl
• An old towel (or two)
• A grown-up helper
• Optional: sewing needle and thread, beads and other decorative accents

Age Guide:

• Needle felting is recommended for children aged 7 years and over, with close adult supervision at all times. Younger children (4+) can still enjoy choosing colours, adding the glitter, and helping with the wet felting stages.

Please note that, as this kit contains sharp felting needles, adult supervision is essential. If you prefer to skip the needle felting, the included guide provides instructions for creating the stars using wet felting only.

Felting kit does not include completed felt stars, beads, or other accessories pictured.
